Mom and Grammy came down for a visit and said that we needed to find work for them to do to keep them busy so....We decided to get our trellis built for our small vineyard that will be on the property.

The basic thought was to boarder the back yard with the trellis to create an edge but to also ensure that the grapes will get enough sunlight since we are allowing the rest of the porperty to become woods for the most part. As soon as the frost danger is over probably around the end of February we are going to plant 20 grape vines.
For the project we used:
- 10 4x4x8 post
- 8 80 lb bags of quicrete
- 300' of tension wire
- 4 turnbuckles
- 12 adjustable eye bolts
Total cost of Materials was less than $100 and the cost of the grapevines will be approximately $100 for a total cost of $200 and at the current cost of grapes it will take about 100lbs of grapes to pay for itself... so in the first year of harvest it will most likely pay for itself several times over.
On each trellis we ran a wire at 3' and 5 feet. We did this to allow each plant to be have 4 main branches for optimal growth. We have mild enough winters here that we shouldn't have any winter freeze problems. Anyway below is a bunch of pictures of the project:
